URGENT - BBC Radio 4 Longwave Transmission - URGENT
The BBC has given notice that its 500KW Droitwich transmitter will be closed for urgent repair work for a number of days beginning from Monday 30 April 2001. Scotland will be not be affected but there will be no 198 kHz longwave reception in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to about 200 miles out to the Atlantic and continental Europe as far as Köln and Lyon. The BBC have apologised for the short notice. This means that on the specified dates that shipping forecasts at 1201 and 1754 will move to 92-95 FM.
The dates are:
Monday 30 April 2001 - Wednesday 16 May 2001 (15 days)
Tuesday 10 July 2001 - Friday 13 July 2001 (4 days)
Tuesday 17 July 2001 - Wednesday 18 July 2001 (2 days)
