The DTLR has published its consultation paper on charging for aids to navigation provided by the GLAs. In its own words, "the review seeks to establish the level of contribution which should come from the various classes of users merchant vessels, fishing vessels and the pleasure users. It includes information on the current level of service, the costs and who pays under the current arrangements. It also sets out some of the observations that have been made to DTLR on the current arrangements, from discussions on both finance and safety issues. These are included to assist those wishing to comment and to indicate some of the questions that DTLR would like to address."
The review is available from the DTLR Shipping website in either html or pdf formats. If you need Adobe Acrobat to view the pdf file, you may download it free from the Abode website.
Responses should reach DTLR by 31 July 2002. CYCC clubs are requested to make their responses known in draft to the CYCC Chairman Colin Colby.
