Date set for end of red diesel

The Economic and Fiscal Strategy Report accompanying the Budget of 21 March 2007 sets 1 November 2008 as the date when the changes required by European Commission's non-renewal of the derogations under the Energy Products Directive will come into force. There will be 'further consultation with industry about the best way to minimise the longer-term compliance burden on the sectors concerned'.
