Woodbridge Haven - Approaches to the River Deben

From the Navigation Manager, Trinity House, dated 6th Feb 2003

I am writing to let you know about changes to the existing buoyage, maintained by ourselves, that are to be implemented very shortly (probably before 12 February, subject to operational commitments). These are being carried out following our survey of the entrance to the River Deben on 24 January 2003 after recent changes to the channel. The survey showed that the current marked channel has shoaled considerably, drying at low water, whilst a new channel has emerged to the east with both increased depths and additional channel width.

The changes are as follows:-

A Trinity House Notice to Mariners will be issued once the moves have been completed.

It would be greatly appreciated, if you could arrange for these changes to be advised to members of your organization.

It is currently planned to resurvey the area after four months to verify the position of the channel.

Yours sincerely
